As promised, here’s a report about Mia’s little trip to Gran Canaria with her boyfriend to participate in #Transgrancanaria (website) trail run, 24th February 2018. Here’s the first part!
Early morning departure.. The sunrise and dramatic skies
The beginning of adventures: rain & storm between Tenerife and Gran Canaria
Arriving to Gran Canaria..
‘Picturesque’ Agaete :)
ExpoMeloneras center to pick up the bibs
After we’ve picked up our bags with bibs and some goodies, we went to see the famous dunes of Maspalomas… Was windy and grey but still very beautiful! <3
Then we’ve arrived to our fantastic apartment in the old town, found through Airbnb:
… Sorted out gels, bottles of water, snacks, bibs, devices… etc
…Next day was a bit fast-forward / blurry but we both made it to the finish line, Mia 30km and her boyfriend 64km. So much emotions and memories!!!.. <3
5am before being separated and picked up by the buses – transportation option available at registration. Beware though that THERE ARE NO WARDROBES OPTION, so unless somebody is backing you up with the clothes, you have no place to store them anywhere when races start!! That was a big disappointment actually..
After finish, you’re eligible for a free massage (and limitless beers..hehe) – don’t neglect it cause it can help to recover much quicker!! I’m talking about massage of course not beers, and what did ya think?!. ))
During the race..
We started when it was dark and FREEZING, but in the end, closer to the finish line in Maspalomas, the sun started shining with no mercy.. It was really hot.
Next: The morning after the race, crawling wandering in Las Palmas before leaving Gran Canaria during big storm…
Don’t like calling it ‘St. Valentine’s’ because the modern idea of this day, with all those candies, flowers, chocolates, balloons etc, is completely wrong different from a real story of one poor guy called Valentine and his unhappy destiny, just because he helped people who were in love, to tie the knot against some stupid law that prohibited the latter.
Today is the day of Love, – to a lover, to a friend, parent, pet, whoever comes into your mind and makes your heart melt / beat faster, or puts a smile onto your face. Those who make your life worthwhile. Who can heal you (or kill you!) by sharing it with you… So let’s celebrate Love and be grateful for what we have today and who we are surrounded by, and don’t forget to say how much you love them, – today you simply must do it, no excuses.
… where we have been, – well, in a quite remote, distinctive place that has no Internet! I.e. in the mountains of Anaga where Mia has recently moved to (and is happy about it!) :) Its been looong and suffering, hehe 1,5 months for her without ADSL, because, apparently, it takes a bit more time&efforts than just a few arranging calls, even if Spanish is your boyfriend’s native language… So, apologies for not posting anything during this time as we know you’ve been checking on us. Thank You so much for that, guys!! <3 . Please remember we do have our Instagram account as well (@girllifeintenerife), where you can follow us and some of our most recent stuff, – but we hope that we won’t disappear for this long, ever again!!
